The following formats are part of the Blu-ray Disc specification:
BD-ROM : read-only format for distribution of HD movies, games and software.
BD-R : recordable format for HD video recording and PC data storage.
BD-RE - rewritable format for HD video recording and PC data storage.
well i have PowerDVD 8 and when i insert the blu ray movie into my cdrom computer it doesnt do nothing it doesnt even say play or anything and i try to click play on PowerDVD 8 but it says that there is no disc please email me back i need help :-(

Hi Monica, good to see someone else from Houston on here. The blu-ray will not play on your computer because you are inserting it into a CD-ROM drive. You have to use a blu-ray drive (BD-ROM / BD-R/RW).

Hey Umm.. So what would be the case if I had the exact same problem as Monica except that I am using a BD-Rom drive? Sony's BDU-X10S drive to be exact with PowerDvD software that's included...
Mind you, I can still play CDs, DvDs, etc.. Just fine, I just cannot play Blu-Ray which is the Main reason why I had spent the extra $70 dollars on it to begin with :(

your drive may be expereancing a problem trying to read the disc my blueray drives have this issue sometimes the issue is usually a disc regen or sicurity problem or thats what i have found with my drives (im sorry for my bad spelling im japanese with english as a second language)
