Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the Blu-ray release of “Blood & Chocolate” and “Curse of the Golden Flower” due in stores May 29. Sony also said “Stomp the Yard” will be available on May 15.
Technical specs include a 1080p video transfer and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track. Sony has set a $38.95 list price for “Blood and Chocolate” and “Stomp the Yard” and $28.95 for “Curse of the Golden Flower”.
Blu-ray Movies From Paramount
Paramount Home Entertainment will add two cult favorites to their growing HD DVD and Blu-ray libraries on June 3rd, with the release of 'The Untouchables' and “The Warriors.” No technical specifications are available but the Studio’s standards are 1080p/VC-1 transfers on the HD DVD versions, and 1080p/MPEG-2 encodes on Blu-ray. Paramount has set a $29.95 list price for each.
Paramount Home Entertainment also announced it will bring the theatrical sleeper hit “Freedom Writers” to Blu-ray and HD DVD this spring.
Starring two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank, the inspirational story of an inner-city school teacher surprisingly earned over $40 million at the domestic box office last January.
Paramount will debut the film on both Blu-ray and HD DVD on May 22. No technical specifications and prices are available right now.
Indie developer Digital Leisure will bring the first interactive high-definition game to Blu-ray with the upcoming release of the classic “Dragon's Lair”.
The landmark animated adventure was one of the big hits of the arcade boom of the early '80s. Combining hand-drawn 2-D animation from the Don Bluth Studios with laserdisc-based technology, 'Dragon's Lair' allowed gamers to pilot the heroic Dirk the Daring on a series of adventures using simple joystick commands.
