Blu-ray Combo Drive for Less than $300

Pioneer released its BDC-S02 Blu-ray Disc Combo drive model in China. The Blu-ray drive has a suggested retail price of $299. The drive should also be released in other market soon but the company did not said exactly when. The BDC-S02 can playback high-definition movies on BD-ROM, BD-R (recordable), BD-R DL (single-sided double-layer), BD-RE (rewritable) and BD-RE DL discs as well as common DVD and CD discs, according to Pioneer's Optical Disc Drive Sales general manager Shannon Yu for the Asia-Pacific region.

Bringing Blu-ray players and drives under the $300 mark is key for the Blu-ray camp. Especially now with HD DVD players that are available for $300 in the United States.
