Upcoming Blu-Ray Movies: A Lot of Good stuff!
This week is probably one of the best weeks in a long time for new Blu-ray movie releases. But in the last few weeks, studios have also announced many more titles that we should see coming to Blu-ray discs soon Here are a few tips on what we can expect in the following months:
First, Sony announced that "Blood & Chocolate" has been delayed for two weeks. Originally announced for a release on May 29th, the title will now be released on June 12th.
On August 14th, Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release "Wild Hogs" day-and-date with the DVD release. The Blu-ray disc will come with a 1080p video with PCM 5.1 soundtrack. The retail price has been set at $34.95. Buena Vista's "Primeval", originally scheduled for this week, has been postponed to June 12th.

Warner Home Entertainment has announced the release of the fourth season of the TV show "Nip/Tuck" on Blu-ray discs. The series will be available on September 4th in a four disc set. The video comes in a 1.78:1 format and the audio soundtrack will be on Dolby Digital 5.1 surround. Retail price has been set to $79.98. The studio will also release "300" on July 31st. The BD-50 disc should come with a 2.4:1 VC-1 1080p video encode and Dolby TrueHD audio. This Blu-ray movie has a retail price of $34.99.
On July 17th, Sony will release "Premonition" on Blu-ray discs. The movie featuring Sandra Bullock will be presented in 2.4:1 1080P with a PCM surround sound soundtrack. This Blu-ray movie will be released day-and-date with the DVD.
Disney announced the release of "Chronicles of Narnia" for late summer or early autumn. No information on the specs is available so far.
A remastered version of "The Fifth Element" will be released on July 17th. Hold your breath; don't buy the version available right now because of the very poor video quality. Let's hope that Sony does a much better job this time.
Lionsgate announced the release of "Doctor Strange" on August 14th. No specifications and price are available for this full length animated movie.
Paramount confirmed the release of "Shooter" on July 31st. No specs have been announced so far. The retail price has been set to $34.95. The studio also said that "Zodiac" will be released on July 24th. The blu-ray movie will carry a $39.95 price tag. No information on the specs is available for now.
Finally, Magnolia will release "The Host" on July 24th with a $34.95 price tag.
