Snow White Goes Platinum in October!

Following Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio, Snow White is the next animated Disney classic to get the Blu-ray Platinum treatment, with a release date set for October 6th.  However this is set to be their most comprehensive release yet, with no less than five editions currently planned!

There are two standard three-disc editions which will include both the DVD and the Blu-ray, however they will be marketed separately on both formats, presumably to boost DVD buyers awareness of Blu-ray.  These will retail at $39.99, however we've yet to hear word concerning the bonus features these regular sets will house.

For the Snow White fan, or for those who love a limited run or collectible Blu-ray set, Disney have three special editions planned.  The first is known as the Snow White Collector's Book Set and will cost  $59.99, which seems to have the above set along with a book, but whether this will be a Snow White story book or one dealing with the artwork or production isn't clear.  Then we have the $79.99 Snow White Dwarf Plush Pack Set which as one would expect, comes with seven plush Dwarfs.

But the real beauty has been saved for last.  The Snow White Limited Edition Collector's Set has the Blu-ray/DVD, a huge hardback book, movie stills and a case containing pins featuring all the main characters, all lovingly wrapped up inside a beautiful collectors box.  This retails for a frankly ridiculous $249.99 and with all three special editions containing different collectibles, it will be a tough choice when it comes down to which one to buy.

Judging by the spectacular Pinocchio transfer and the amount of work which went into that, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs should be something really special.
