Mark Levinson Tuned LG Blu-ray System Hits UK

Posted by Andy Boxall

HB954B LG are preparing to release a new complete Blu-ray Home Cinema system, the LG HB954B, in the UK.  Although many prefer the upgradability of a separates system, the all-in-one is an ideal solution for anyone who wants simplicity with style when it comes to their home entertainment system.  The good news is, LG have fitted enough new technology into the HB954B, most won't have to think about upgrading for a while anyway!

The BD-Live enabled Blu-ray player acts as the system hub and supports Blu-ray, upscaled 1080p DVD, DivX, pictures and MP3 files, plus it has a front-mounted dock for your iPod or iPhone, which can then be controlled by the system's remote.  Elsewhere on the player you'll find two HDMI sockets, an optical and coaxial connection and a USB.

LG have commissioned audio specialists Mark Levinson to tune the speaker system for the best results from the 'champagne glass' surround speakers, plus the system happily decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD too.  LG states 1000w of power through the five speakers and subwoofer, however examination of the spec reveals this is 'Max Power', so expect an RMS figure of roughly half.

Price has yet to be revealed, however $1000 has been rumoured, which converts to £660, which is reasonable when you consider the range of media options the system contains.  The HB954B should be on the shelves this month and Korea will also be getting the system, recognisable thanks to dropping the 'B' from the model number.
