This Week's Top Blu-ray Announcements - 12th June
Two of the biggest announcements this week, The Prisoner and The Wizard of Oz, were so exciting we covered them separately, which has left us a little light for our weekly update, however this has given us the chance to slip in some interesting news on those big robots...
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
No, it doesn't have a Blu-ray date, but the rumour is the eventual Blu disc will be treated to The Dark Knight style aspect ratio changes to emphasize the IMAX sequences director Michael Bay shot. There are apparently four in total and knowing how fantastic they looked in The Dark Knight, this is exciting stuff!
Sons of Anarchy: Season One.
The USA will get Kurt Sutter's motorcycle club TV series
on the 18th August. Three discs will hold the entire first season,
with episodes presented in 1080p and featuring a 'lossless' audio
track. There will be three commentaries over selected episodes, plus a
Making-of.
Number 23 - Uncut.
The Jim Carrey thriller will be coming to US Blu-ray on the 6th October. Extras include masses of deleted scenes, a Joel Schumacher commentary, a Making-of featurette plus How to Do Your Numbers, The Number 23 Enigma and Creating the World of Fingerling documentaries. The trivia track seen on the DVD seems to be missing though.
The Unit: Season Four, My Name is Earl: Season Four and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
All three of these TV series will be out in the US during September, with Earl appearing on the 15th September, season two of The Sarah Connor Chronicles on the 22nd September and The Unit on the 29th. Good to see all these TV on Blu-ray.
