This Week's Top Blu-ray Movie Announcements - 7th June
Here's our pick of this week's new announcements and rumours of forthcoming Blu-ray discs.
The New York Ripper.
Blue Underground have announced Lucio Fulci's notorious slasher for the 29th September. Extra features have not all been confirmed, but currently there is a look at the New York locations, a trailer and the fantastically named Zora Kerova interview 'I'm an Actress!'. The New York Ripper is presented in 1080p and will have both a DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Quack!
Trick r' Treat.
Micheal Dougherty's Halloween-themed horror is finally getting released on DVD and Blu-ray, in time for October 31st 2009. Fangoria list the roadshow dates and locations, from early July to end of October, so it's reasonable to expect it to be out sometime in September, if not slightly before. If you've not heard of this one, check out the trailer on YouTube.
Menace II Society, Friday and Set it Off.
Fast & Furious.
Reuniting all the 'stars' from the original Fast and Furious movie, this latest in the franchise is getting a 2 disc release on the 28th July. There's a ton of extra features, making this a great disc, including BD-Live, U-Control, Vin Diesel's original short film 'Los Bandoleros' about the build-up to the first movie, several car-related featurettes and a commentary.
Howards End.
Criterion Studios allowed fans to vote on the next title they would like to see released in high definition and this was the winner. James Ivory's drama will be out later in the year.
