This Week's Top Blu-ray Movie Annoucements - 4th July
While this week may not have been the most exciting in terms of new releases, there has been plenty of interesting news concerning future discs!
The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue.
Blue Underground will release Jorge Grau's excellent zombie movie on the 27th October. Restored from the original negatives, the disc will be 1080p with DTS-HD audio, plus it will feature the same extras as their DVD. Not sure on the cover art, and in a move to presumably confuse the public, Blue Underground has used yet another title, as this has been previously released as Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.
The Quick and the Dead.
Sam Raimi's highly enjoyable western comes to Blu-ray on the 8th September. Naturally, it will be in 1080p and have a TrueHD soundtrack, but as yet there is no news on the bonus features. Wouldn't it be nice to hear Raimi's comments in a chat track, or at the very least some interviews with the big name cast?
Shaun of the Dead.
More zombie fun, this time with as many laughs as homages from Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. September 22nd sees this version released, with the DVD features ported over in addition to BD-Live and U-Control content.
Hot Fuzz.
The follow-up to Shaun of the Dead sees them pay their respects to the buddy-cop genre. Again, the masses of DVD features have been ported across with BD-Live and U-Control too. It shares the same September 22nd release date with Shaun of the Dead.
Grace.
On September 15th, Anchor Bay will release Paul Solet's horror movie about a less than ordinary baby. Two commentary tracks and several features on the making of the film are among the extras.
Godzilla.
The 1998 version with Matthew Broderick comes out on the 3rd of November. Presented in 1080p and with a PCM 5.1 soundtrack, the extras will include an exclusive MovieIQ feature.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial KIller.
Fangoria don't give us many details on this forthcoming Dark Sky disc aside from the release date of September 29th.
