This Week's Top Blu-ray Movie Releases - 14th July
It's time for our weekly rundown of new Blu-ray releases, starting with those out in the USA.
US Releases for the 14th July.
For All Mankind.
Criterion release this excellent documentary commemorating the moon
landings. The usual exhaustive bonus material includes a commentary,
An Accidental Gift documentary and interviews with Apollo astronauts.
Haunting in Connecticut.
Inspired by a true story, the Blu-ray contains the unrated version of
the film along with a commentary track and a two-part documentary on
the real case.
M*A*S*H*.
Robert Altman's cinematic prelude to the successful TV series.
This is Spinal Tap.
The one, true rock music mockumentary comes the hi-def. The two disc set has all the features found on the Special Edition DVD.
Towering Inferno.
One of the classic disaster movies gets a great Blu-ray release, with a commentary by film historian F.X. Feeney and several documentaries on the film and the special effects.
Also released is I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
UK Releases for the 13th July.
Hotel for Dogs.
It's a film set in a hotel...for dogs! If the extras mimic the US release, then you'll get a short making-of, some deleted scenes and a few featurettes on the canine stars.
Mad Men: Season 1 and 2.
The TV series is available separately or as part of a two-season box set.
Midnight Express.
It may be presented in high definition, but the extra features mimic the Anniversary Edition DVD, with several featurettes and an Alan Parker commentary.
Torchwood: Children of the Earth.
Series three of the Doctor Who spin-off. A behind-the-scenes feature and an audio clip from Torchwood in the Shadows are the only extras.
Separation.
A BFI release of the Jane Arden film. A commentary and the Beyond Image short film are included, along with an illustrated booklet.
Red Mist is also released, while out on the 20th July is The Haunting in Connecticut.
