Toshiba Go Blu for their Latest Qosmio Laptop

Posted by Andy Boxall

Toshiba X500

Now they've started, they can't stop themselves!  With their first standalone Blu-ray player release barely a month old, Toshiba have now added a Blu-ray drive to their insanely high-spec Qosmio laptop, the X500.  However, anyone expecting this to be a truly portable laptop will be sorely disappointed; it's much more of a desktop replacement-style computer, suited to hauling from one room to another rather than any extended journeys!

The black chassis and red highlights look great, as do the backlit keys, but the X500 is all about the specification, so let's take a look:  Keeping the X500 ticking over is an Intel i7 Quad Core processor with an Nvidia GeForce 1GB graphics card and up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM backing it up, while the TruBrite 16:9 screen measures 18.4" and displays at the full HD resolution of 1920x1080, making good use of the rewritable Blu-ray drive.

The X500 also has an HDMI port to allow quick connection to your HDTV, a touchpad supporting multi-touch, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a webcam, three USB ports, a card reader, provision for two hard drives up to 1TB in size and Harman Kardon stereo speakers.  Price for this monster has yet to be announced, but Toshiba say they will tell all on the 13th October, ready for its UK launch on the 22nd October.

Blu ray

This is one crazy laptop. It is cool to see that some Pc's now have a blu ray drive.
