Watchmen Ultimate Edition Finally Detailed
Disc One:
- The Ultimate Cut. This is the fabled complete story as Snyder envisioned, combining the director's cut of the movie and the previously released Black Freighter animation to follow even more closely the graphic novel's structure.
- A new commentary track with Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons.
Disc Two:
- The Phenomenon: The Comic that Changed Comics.
- Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes.
- Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World.
- Watchmen Video Journals.
- My Chemical Romance music video.
All the above are repeat content already available on the director's cut Blu-ray edition.
- Under the Hood
- Story Within a Story: The Books of Watchmen.
Disc Three:
- A digital copy of the theatrical version.
Disc Four:
- Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comics.
- Facebook connectivity via BD-Live.
The video is listed as being 2.35:1 in 1080p as before, however the audio is Dolby TrueHD rather than DTS-HD found on the director's cut disc. The release date has also been changed from the expected December date to November 3rd - worried people won't care if you leave it too long, Warner? The cost? A retail of $59.99, which seems excessive for one slightly altered film and other content already available, and for a reduced price too.
Warner's flyer indicates both the Blu-ray and DVD editions will be a 'limited release', but gives no details as to them being numbered. The digi-pack casing does look nice, however the cover art could have been better, but all this is meaningless seeing as the director's cut made an already long film incredibly baggy, so the thought of even more Watchmen is not a pleasant one! Are there really any fans who don't already have everything except the cobbled together version found inside the Ultimate Cut? Will any casual fan consider buying it? Let us know below!

Cover art SUCKS! All this time and effort underminded by some idiot in marketing changing the classic Smiley-face to a jolly roger!

I want one. I'll wait until somebody sells me one on Ebay a couple months later though.

Ceejay, you're right, the cover art must have taken all of 20 seconds to ruin, when the classic would have been perfect.
Not sure I'll bother picking one up at all, given the very high price.
