Day of the Dead Stumbles On To UK Blu-ray
Remember the rather excellent Dawn of the Dead Blu-ray released back in October by Arrow Films? Well, it is being joined by its sequel, Day of the Dead! Sharing the same beautiful packaging, Day of the Dead will be a two-disc set with four alternative sleeve artwork options and plenty of new extras:
Blu-ray Disc One:
- Commentary with Greg Nicotero, Howard Berger, Mike Deak and Everett Burrell.
- Joe of the Dead - Acting In a Romero Classic. This is a new 50-minute documentary focusing on Joe Pilato, who plays Captain Rhodes in the film. He talks about the movie, its poor box office and rediscovery as a classic, how it affected his career and the remake.
- Travelogue of the Dead. Another new documentary, running for 17 minutes, which again follows Pilato. This time when he visits three UK locations in October 2009 where the movie is being show to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
DVD Disc Two:
- The Many Days of the Dead - a 39 minute retrospective making-of which was featured on the second disc of the 2006 Arrow DVD release.
- Behind the Zombies footage.
- Romero Zombography.
- Photo Album of the Dead.
- Souvenirs of the Dead
- The Audio Recollections of Richard Liberty.
- TV Adverts and Trailers.
So, like Arrow's Dawn of the Dead Blu-ray, the set is part Blu, part DVD. Inside you'll also find a double-sided poster, a collector's booklet entitled For Every Dawn There Is a Day, plus an exclusive collector's comic called Day of the Dead: Desertion, featuring Bub the zombie. Fans of the film will also be interested to know that both a DTS HD audio mix and the original 1.0 Mono mix will be included and that the DTS will be a restored, uncensored version.
The release date is down as the 29th March in the UK, which is nine days after Arrow's Dawn of the Dead comes out from its HMV exclusivity and the retail price is £24.99.
