This Week's New Blu-ray Releases - 9th February 2010
Here is a rundown of this week's major new Blu-ray releases in the UK
and
USA.
A Serious Man.
An early home release for the Coen's latest. Three documentaries are included on the Hebrew and Yiddish language, the 1967 setting and the Coen's creative vision.
Running Man.
Arnie does some light jogging in this Stephen King adaptation. There is a commentary with director Paul Michael Glaser - yes, Starsky himself - and one from producer Rob Coen, plus a featurette or two.
The Time Traveler's Wife.
An adaptation of the popular book. Two documentaries form the meat of the extras, one on the movie adaptation and one on the book.
Bronson.
Tom Hardy beefs up and plays notorious UK prisoner Charlie Bronson in this violent, disturbing, but highly amusing oddity.
Also released are Drop Zone, Stepfather, Couple's Retreat, Hard Rain and I Hate Valentine's Day.
UK Releases for the 8th February.
Adventureland.
Greg Mottola shows he can make a funny, feel-good movie. Extras include Adventureland commercials and training videos, deleted scenes, a commentary with Mottola and star Jesse Eisenberg. HMV have an edition with exclusive cover-art too.
The Ugly Truth.
Especially for Valentine's Day. Lucky us. A selected scene commentary, deleted and extended scenes and the presumably ironic 'The Art of Laughter: A Making of Hilarious Proportions' featurette.
In The Electric Mist.
Beware of this one, as according to DVDTimes, the disc is not the extended cut, but the US 98min edition, has no extras and is encoded using MPEG2. Another edition could follow in the future.
Also released are Couple's Retreat, The Time Traveler's Wife, Mystic River and Love Happens.
