Avatar Blu-ray Steelbook Details Appear, Then Disappear!
Avatar is probably the most anticipated release of 2010, with much speculation concerning when we will see it and how many editions there will be. Director James Cameron has said the initial release will be in April, but this was not confirmed, or crucially, denied by Fox when they spoke out about Cameron's statements regarding a second, November release.
The next piece of the puzzle has fallen into place though, as web retailer Play.com revealed the artwork for a UK Steelbook release, along with a collection of art cards and a booklet named An Activist Survival Guide. No release date was provided, but we can assume it can't be far away if they have the images and special contents all prepared.
However, as quickly as it appeared, the listing disappeared again, but thankfully Bluraysteelbooks.com grabbed the picture first. Play has returned to their standard Avatar holding page with the chance to sign-up for notifications. Neither Amazon on HMV list an actual release either, however Amazon do have An Activist Survival Guide listed as a movie tie-in paperback book.
So, did Play jump the gun and put up the page early, or have Fox changed their mind and ordered the removal of the image from not only Play, but several blogs too? We certainly hope it's the former.
