News and Rumours:BFI.
From April, the BFI will be releasing dual-format sets containing both DVD and Blu-ray editions of their films. The first pair are scheduled for the 26th April and will be Tokyo Story and Early Summer. A further 25 editions are planned over the next year.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Terry Gilliam's latest will see its HD release on the 27th April. Bonus features include an introduction and commentary with Gilliam, deleted scenes, several featurettes and plenty of Heath Ledger related content. Sound will be DTS-HD.
G.I. Joe: The Movie. Not the recent live-action Stephen Sommers film (which we review here), but an HD version of the late '80s animated movie. While not as timeless as Transformers: The Movie, this was far less mainstream and rather odd in places. Shout! is producing the disc and give the impression the transfer will be worth seeing.
