Kick-Ass Announced for Blu-ray in August

Kick-Ass was a media sensation - for the wrong reasons - and an impressive box office success and now, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the comic book is coming to Blu-ray at the beginning of August.  The release will be a combo pack with both the Blu-ray and the DVD along with a digital copy of the film.  Here are the extra features:

• Ass-Kicking Bonus View.  Running with the film, this will have video and audio commentary, behind-the scenes and the cast and crew giving their views on the movie.  Blu-ray exclusive.
• A New Kind of Superhero.  A making-of documentary.  Blu-ray exclusive.
• Commentary with Matthew Vaughn.
• It's On!  A featurette on the comic book.
• The Art of Kick-Ass.
• Marketing archive.

The movie will be presented in 1080p with a 2.40:1 ratio with audio in the form of a 7.1 DTS-HD track.  The Blu-ray will also work with BD Touch, an application for iPhone and Android mobile devices which will allow users to personalise the menus, navigate through them and also, in the same way as PocketBLU, store certain bonus features.

Kick-Ass will be released on the 3rd August in the USA and has a retail price of $39.99.  No international date has been set, but Play.com are listing both a standard release and a limited edition, with the graphic novel and art-cards included, as coming soon for the UK.
