EISA Announce 2010-2011 Award Winners

Posted by Andy Boxall

EISA The European Imaging and Sound Association held their annual awards ceremony this week, where they named their favourite products from a variety of fields including In-car electronics, mobile, video and photo.  However, we're most interested in the Audio & Home Theatre group, where the following Blu-ray products went home with the top awards.

The European HT System 2010-2011 went to the Philips HTS9520, an all-in-one system comprising of satellite speakers with multiple drivers and a clever cabinet housing dipole speakers and a bass/treble unit.  A Blu-ray drive runs the show and the amp has a custom DSP function too.  Finally, the player is 3D ready.  Take a look at the award video here.

The best European Blu-ray Player award was given to the Samsung BD-C8900 and its M and S variants, which come with a DBT-T2 tuner or an integrated HDTV cable or satellite tuner respectively.  The C8900 has a built-in hard drive, Wi-Fi, 3D and a USB port.  Watch the award video by following this link.

Samsung also succeeded in winning the European 3D Solution 2010-2011 award, where their UE46C8000 television was combined with the HT-C6930W all-in one system.  The screen has a 46" LED panel and displays 3D, while the C6930 provides not only 3D Blu-ray playback, but wireless 7.1 audio too.  As before, click the link to see the video.

LG joined the winners list with the LG HB45E, which was awarded European HT Compact System 2010-2011.  This is a 2.1 all-in-one, with Blu-ray and DVD playback, iPhone and iPod docking, Ethernet and plenty of media file support.  Watch the video here.

When a product wins an award from EISA, it's a good indication that you'll be getting a high-quality system, so it's always worth auditioning those that do.
